About Sarah Jean Harrison
I studied Music and Psychology at Stellenbosch University before completing my Master’s in Music Therapy at the University of Pretoria. My journey into music therapy became deeply personal when my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer. During that time, Prof. Carol Benn introduced me to this incredible form of therapy, and I knew I had found my calling. Since then, I’ve worked in hospitals and community settings, and researched how music listening can support people going through cancer treatment.

Here at the Breast Care Centre of Excellence, my role is to help you feel safe, calm, and cared for before your surgery — and to be there for you on your journey afterwards too. I work closely with Dr Blumenthal so we can give you the best care possible. I aim to make this part of your journey a little lighter, a little calmer, and hopefully, a little brighter.
